Area of Research

Description of Research Interest

We use the zebrafish to generate models of human diseases, with a focus on ophthalmic disorders. We have developed a number of physiological (electroretinogram, electrophysiology, calcium imaging) and behavioral (3D tracking, parallel movement tracking, choice discrimination) assays for phenotype analyses. Similar techniques, in particular calcium based activity imaging, are used to study genetic and pharmacological models of epilepsy. In a recent research project we use the zebrafish to model pediatric tumors. e.g. by grafting human tumor into larval zebrafish brains, and use these models for drug discovery.
