Area of Research
Description of Research Interest
My group investigates the mechanisms underlying selective transport of ions across cellular membrane. Towards this end we investigate selected families of ion channels and secondary active transporters of large importance for human physiology by an interdisciplinary approach combining X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy biochemistry and electrophysiology. Systems under investigation include members of the ClC, SLC11, SLC26, pLGICs, TMEM16 and LRRC8 families.
