Area of Research

Description of Research Interest

My research focuses on the health and well-being of families in vulnerable situations, such as families experiencing acute-critical illness, loss and bereavement or being engaged in caregiving. Drawing on a wide range of methodological approaches, I investigate the effectiveness of family support interventions and models of care on individual and family illness management ability and health outcomes. I have a particular interest in the study of spread and scale strategies to enable the systemwide uptake of evidence-based, interprofessional care delivery for people with chronic health challenges and their families entering acute care, as well as for those bereaved. More recently, I have started to investigate patient and public involvement and engagement in research. My research is located at the intersection of nursing science, complex health intervention research, and implementation science, with a focus on family health nursing and novel interventions.
