Description of Research Interest
My area of research is computer vision. More specifically, I am interested in any scenario that has cameras attached to devices that can move and observe the world from varying viewpoints, this includes mobile and wearable devices carried by people (e.g. AI/AR/VR glasses) or cameras mounted on robots, drones or vehicles. My goal is to develop solutions that can assist people or enable robots with AI to carry out tasks in the physical world. My research covers the extraction of geometric and semantic information from images, computing the motion of the camera and the 3D geometry of the scene, calibrating camera systems, tracking of moving objects, semantic labeling of surfaces and objects, recognition of human actions, understanding affordances, robotic navigation and manipulation.
