Area of Research

Description of Research Interest

Exhaled breath analysis (Exhalomics)
This has a focus on (but is not restricted to) the diagnosis and metabolic pathway identification of lung and airway diseases. Applied techniques are mainly based on SESI-MS and sensors. Currently investigated diseases include e.g. obstructive sleep apnoea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung fibrosis, sarcoidosis, asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, heart failure a.o.

Sleep disordered breathing
This is mainly focused on randomised controlled trials investigating the pathophysiological effects of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and novel treatments for OSA.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
In this area we are interested in the effects of COPD on the cardiovascular system. We are also looking at the effects of therapeutic interventions on various patient-centered outcomes in COPD.
